What “agent-ready” actually means for your business
You'll hear the phrase “agent-ready” a lot over the next few years, usually from someone trying to sell you something. So let's strip it down to what it actually means, in plain language.
The one-sentence version
Your business is agent-ready when an AI assistant can find it, describe it accurately, and connect a customer to you, without a human having to interpret anything along the way.
That's it. Not a certification. Not a badge. Just: can the machine do its job with your business, or does it get stuck?
What it feels like when you're not
A homeowner asks for a plumber. The assistant names your competitor, because it couldn't put together a straight answer about you. A shopper asks what you charge. The assistant quotes someone else, because it found their prices and not yours. Someone asks if you're open. The assistant says it doesn't know, and moves on.
None of this shows up in your analytics. Nobody calls to tell you the AI sent them elsewhere. The jobs just never arrive.
What it doesn't mean
Being agent-ready doesn't mean rebuilding your website, learning to code, or buying some AI platform. Most of the fixes are invisible to your visitors. They live in the code and settings behind the page. And it doesn't guarantee the AI will pick you. It guarantees the AI can pick you, with the right facts. That's the part you control.
